Budget-Conscious Ways to Increase Curb Appeal, pt. 1

The term “curb appeal” is used to real estate as an indication that a house for sale will be a draw to potential buyers. The fact that your house is still standing is not enough; you want it to be attractive so that someone will make an offer. Everyone can’t do a complete overhaul, but there are many small things you can do that will make a big difference in how people view your house.

Pick a number

You probably give little thought to the numbers on your house, but new ones can add to your home’s appeal. You want to pick numbers that go along with the architecture and color of the outside of your home. You can make your address a memorable one that will remain in prospective buyers’ minds for less than $50, and that is a large estimate, it may not cost more than $5.

The mat matters
If you don’t have a welcome mat, add one. If the one that you have is worn and has seen better days, get a new one. If it rains and your welcome mat gets all muddy and you cannot clean it off, get another one. Anything you can do to make your home seem more inviting makes a difference.
