Sellers, you can still sell your home during the holidays!

I understand the frustration of many sellers today. I just pulled a report for expired and withdrawn listings for the past week in Anne Arundel and Howard Counties. The numbers continue to grow. Many properties are reaching hundreds of days on the market and being withdrawn in frustration. There is also a seasonal change for sellers. Many, due to the holidays have decided to take their property off the market. They are reassessing their options, hoping Santa will find a buyer. They also feel that no one is out looking.

Be advised! history tells us that there are plenty of buyers out during the holidays. Many people have time off, they are talking with their friends and families about their dreams of owning a home soon. These people are absolutely in the market during the month of December and early January. There is traditionally a shortage of available homes during the holidays for buyers because many sellers withdraw from the market. This is good for those sellers who stick it out.
Indications are that sellers will have to remain aggressive during 2010. There are more foreclosures coming, loans are still tough and inventories continue to grow. So sellers, don’t give up. Consult with several knowledgeable and experienced agents, work on a solution and get moving again. Your home will sell!
In the meantime, relax and try to enjoy the holidays.
