Downtown Annapolis, also known as the Historic District, is full of historical charm. You feel like you walked into colonial times when you step onto the brick lined streets in this beautiful city. Annapolis has more 18th Century structures standing today than any other city in US. These charming pieces of history include; the third oldest college in the US, St. John’s College. The United States Naval Academy , the capitol building and many of the buildings that line main street. To enjoy all Annapolis has to offer, I suggest you slip on a pair of comfortable shoes and start walking. Each street, alley, nook and cranny is filled with new, exciting and romantic sites, not to mention unsurpassed pieces of history. When living or visiting the Annapolis area there will always be plenty to do. You won’t be bored here, not for a moment. The year is filled with festivals, sailing races, boat and walking tours and several boat shows that fill the charming streets of Annapolis with activity. The nightlife is vibrant as well.I enjoy all this beautiful city has to offer. I usually start with a stroll down Main Street for lunch, some shopping at the many local shops and finish my day with a stroll to city dock. The Harbor area is a great place to enjoy an ice cream or salty breeze off the Bay while sailboats from the world over parade Ego Alley. Annapolis is after all, known as the “Sailing capital of the world.” One of my son’s fondest memories with me was the Sunday morning breakfasts we had at the famous Chick & Ruth’s Deli. We had milkshakes and pancakes for breakfast and enjoyed a variety of great deli sandwiches over the years as well. Whether you are looking for an 18th century historical home, or something more modern, you can find it in Annapolis.
