Bay Ridge Community is one of the best Annapolis locations to enjoy life and views of the Chesapeake Bay. This point of land where the Severn River and the Chesapeake Bay meet was developed in the late 1800’s as a summer resort. People came from miles around to enjoy what was once known as the “Queen of the Chesapeake.” Visitors enjoyed trolley rides around the shoreline, picnic areas and dancing to all day concerts. Eventually the summer resort area changed to more permanent residences for the more than 300 homes there today. Lounge chairs, fire pits, boats and homes are scattered along its private beaches. There is enough waterfront for everyone to have their own little spot in the sand.
The houses are spectacular, and the lawns are perfectly manicured. Many homes are Chesapeake Bay waterfront or have spectacular views of the Chesapeake. Everyone has access to the greatest amenity in Bay Ridge, its private beaches and breathtaking views. Residents also have access to the private community swimming pool where I worked one summer when my father owned a pool business in the Davidsonville area. The pool is huge. There is a great clubhouse, marina and Bay Ridge woods and community land. The only aspect of Bay Ridge that isn’t a lot of fun is the tedious drive from Rt.665 down Forest Drive. Be prepared to sit at many lights and deal with traffic in the evenings, but once home, you are in paradise.
