Crofton Community Profile
What makes living in old Crofton so special? Centrally located 30 minutes between Washington D.C. and Baltimore, Crofton is a commuters dream but it still retains that small town community feeling. How is that possible you ask? Veteran’s day parades, ice cream socials, summer concerts, and craft fairs are just a few of the events bringing people together throughout the year. There’s no better feeling strolling down the parkway, listening to church bells ringing in the distance, and saying hello to your neighbors as you pass by. No wonder “Money Magazine” named it one of their top 100 places to live in 2007.
Crofton was originally a gated, planned community located between Route 3, Route 424 & Route 450. People refer to living in the “Crofton Triangle” due to its outline on a map. Set up as a special tax district, living in the triangle provides residents with a private police force, maintenance of public areas, and community sponsored events like the annual Christmas Tree Lighting, Easter Egg Hunt, and Halloween Parade to name a few.
Inside the “triangle”, residents can walk, bike, and jog around the Crofton Parkway, which loops around for 3.5 miles around the Crofton Country Club. No matter what the weather, you’ll find people out and about on the parkway!
Many clubs are available in walking/biking distance to its residents. The Crofton Swim and Tennis club has 8 tennis courts, a large swimming pool, and a wonderful new club house with showers and meeting/party room. Children love special planned events such as Raft night and Movie night. Swim team, dive team, swimming and tennis lessons are some of the choices CSTC offers its members.
Golf enthusiasts might consider the Crofton Country Club which offers a challenging 18 hole regulation golf course and Olympic pool. Families will enjoy the summer cookouts, poolside bar, sand volleyball court, basketball and playground.
Whether you are new to the Crofton area or returning, you’ll want to join the Crofton Town Club. Their motto is to promote fellowship among neighbors and to orient newcomers to the area. Ladies night, Book Clubs, and Mom & Tot playgroups are some of the events hosted by the Crofton Town Club.
Residents there are never far away from all kinds of conveniences and amenities. Grocery stores, Places of worship, doctor offices, orthodontists, gyms, post office, library and dining are just minutes away.
