Being a really good or great real estate agent just isn’t enough. People have to know it. So you better be really good at blowing your own horn. Some of us are not natural built promoters, we were taught to be humble, keep a low key etc., I think it was a generation thing. But in this racket, quiet and humble don’t count, you have to be downright, in your face aggressive to get in to a prospective clients door.
Social media storm. You know it’s funny I read an article this morning a ReMax broker had written where he said that the old way of marketing is dead. Do you agree? Do you read? Do you toss every flyer and post card in the trash? How would you find a real estate agent? Snapchat? Facebook? Twitter or all the above. I know when I google my name I get tons and tons of hits online but who googles john day? I post to Facebook, Twitter, Linked and here on this site daily or weekly or both.
Hard to believe but this little website gets tons of traffic, like 2000 folks in the last month but what were they looking for. They did not click to chat, fill out a contact form or request a free market survey of their home’s value. They stayed, looked at a page or two and hit the road. Did they have a house to sell? Did they want to buy a home in Annapolis or Anne Arundel County?
I have spent thousands of $$ and as many hours promoting me online. I use the above, I use video and I pay Google Adwords to drive traffic that is not organically generated. So now I find myself ready to spend another um teen thousand dollars for a redesign of a website so it’s more appealing to those 2000 people. That’s fine, I invest heavily in my business, I invest in education, marketing and me.
I have over 1000 informational articles pertaining to real estate marketing, selling, listing your home and closing cost information. Information on flipping homes, title companies, lenders and the foreclosure process. I write and write, promote and promote and no takers through this website so look for a redesign soon.
We are all taught what millennial’s like; social media. Market that way and you will be the man.
For me after years of all this fun stuff, yep at the ripe age of 60 I’m very good on this computer thing, I can build a website, make animated videos and boy can I sell real estate. But it’s quiet now, is it twilight for the old guy, he says no way, he loves the business so onward.
I believe face to face is still, even in this computer age, the best marketing strategy. So it’s time to hit the doors. Knock Knock who’s there? Your local neighborhood realtor looking for work, blowing his own horn and shaking your hand. So you may see me soon at your door, let’s have coffee and discuss real estate over a snapchat or Facebook live recording.
In the meantime if you want to sell your Maryland home, it would be very wise of you to reach out to this top ranking, seasoned pro so you are getting sold and not snapped or facebooked and all that fun stuff. You know the old fashioned way, hard work, honesty and good old fashioned marketing that still does the job.
